CASA – Trent Bridge
On Sunday 14th July we are having an
informal get-together at a café-bar called CASA. Food and drinks
will be available for you to purchase and everyone is welcome
to come along.
First of all, a word of warning for those who are
visitors to the city – there are two branches of CASA in the city.
One is in the city centre on Friar Lane and the other is on Trent
Bridge alongside the two football stadiums and the cricket ground.
IT IS THE LATTER THAT WE ARE MEETING AT. The telephone number
is (0115) 9852287
From Nottingham to CASA
If you arrive on a bus / coach then you will, more
than likely, find yourself at Broad Marsh Bus Station. From here
you can follow pedestrian signs to the railway station. It is
only 200m or so away. From here you have the option of walking,
catching a bus or taking a taxi. If your bus / coach terminates
at Victoria Coach Station then the route gets a little complicated
and by far the easiest way to us is by taxi.
By taxi –There is a taxi rank outside the
railway station and there are always a number of hackney carriages
available here. The journey is only short and should cost no
more than £5. Remember to tell the driver that you want the Trent
Bridge branch!
By bus – If you turn out of the station and
walk right for 50m then there is a line of bus stops outside the
newsagents and the Cosy Teapot Café. The bus should cost around
80 pence and you will need the correct change for most of them.
If you ask the driver to let you know when you get to Trent Bridge
then he / she should be happy to do this for you. It is a 5-10
minute journey.
There are a number of buses:
Number 1 – Loughborough – One every hour at ten
minutes to
Number 6 – Edwalton - Two buses an hour at quarter
to and quarter past the hour
Number 7 – Gamston - Two buses per hour at 25 to
and on the hour
Number 9 – Wilford Hill - One bus per hour at half
past
Number 10 – Ruddington - One bus every hour at ten
minutes past the hour
Number 11 – National Water Sports Centre / Adbolton
Lane - One bus per hour at twenty minutes past
On foot – It is only just over a mile and
so could be walked if you do not have too much luggage. Turn
left out of the station, cross the road and walk straight on down
a slight hill. There is a row on shops on the left hand side
including a carpet shop on the corner and you follow the road
round to the left and then the right. You will reach an island
with a petrol station and here you need to stick to the right
hand side of the road. CASA is on the right just before you reach
the bridge.
By Car – Turn left out of the station car
park (you cannot turn right), follow the road to the end and turn
right. This is London Road. Follow this over two sets of lights
then turn next right using the slip lane. The car park is at
the rear.
From the University to CASA
By taxi – The most efficient way to do this
is to call and book a car. I recommend either South Notts (0115)
9830600 or Southside (0115) 9141414. Again, remember to say Trent
Bridge!
By bus – There is a bus stop directly outside
the main gates of the university but only one service passes here;
the Number 1 from Loughborough. There is one per hour at twenty-five
past. If you turn left out of the gates and walk to the bottom
of the hill there is another bus stop on the left hand side of
the road (about 100m). The Number 2 bus passes here once an hour
on the hour and you will need the correct change. Again, ask
the driver to let you know when you arrive at Trent Bridge.
On foot – I wouldn’t recommend walking because
it is at least 3-4 miles.
By car – Turn left out of the campus and
drive to the bottom of the hill. Go straight on at the traffic
lights and then take the left hand lane which goes under the fly-over.
Take the first exit at the roundabout and follow this road under
the bridge alongside the river. Continue straight on through
two sets of lights until you reach a T-junction. Turn left here
and follow the road until you go over Trent Bridge. CASA is immediately
on your left on the other side of the bridge and there is a car
park to the rear.
