Welcome to Chowbok Lodge! Chowbok Lodge is the last permanent building in Kahabukonia before you reach the great Erewhonian mountain range. Although these mountains are not as high as Everest, the challenges are perhaps even greater. We attempt to offer you the same thrills experienced by my great-great-great-grandfather on his solitary trek in 1872. Shortly after he set out from his campsite here, he was deserted by his native companion, Chowbok. You, too, will be on your own, without a guide, and must carry everything you need for your entire expedition. There are no base camps established beyond this point. During his explorations, my great-great-great-grandfather actually crossed the mountain range into the land of Erewhon. We do not advise that you follow his footsteps there. The Erewhonians do not welcome visitors and have customs which seem peculiar to outsiders. They consider machinery to be a great evil, for instance, and possessing a watch could result in several years of imprisonment. Just imagine what penalty would be attached to your GPS or your radio or your cell phone! If you do end up on the wrong bank after rafting back down the river rapids and wander into Erewhon, you will need the information contained in this brochure to survive. This is not a collection of advice on which plants are edible or how to find shelter. You possess those skills to a high degree or you wouldn't be tackling Arowhena's Challenge. This brochure advises you on how to survive in Erewhonian society and avoid imprisonment. Information on the culture of Erewhon is as complete as possible but there are gaps. Included here are all known reports by travellers who have visited Erewhon by accident during the past century. Read this brochure carefully and heed its warnings! They may save your life. We hope you enjoy your stay with us. Let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay in the lodge more comfortable.
