Q1 What does the word ‘home’ mean to you?
HOME IS WHERE YOU LIVE WITH YOUR LOVE
Araz , Azerbaijan
Home is my mother. When I come home after a long time she meets me with the tears in her eyes. And she always says she was peeling the onions. But I do know what they mean. Home is my bed. When I go to bed in my room I feel such a great pleasure that I never ever feel in anybody's bed. Home is something that is inside myself. When I feel upset I close my eyes and start feeling home.

I've been counting: fifty or more different homes in 56 years in 10 different countires. Two of them were "Homes" in the institutional sense of the word. My father forgot to pay some school fees and as he and the rest of my family were abroad I was put into "care and Protection". "It'll suit you" said the Social Worker lady, "Seeing where you went to school. It used to be a hunting lodge for Charles II." Gosh, I thought to myself, Nell Gywn! And sure enough I got the first kiss in my life from a girl called Nelly. She was 13 and I was 14. So what's home to me. Where I get kissed, I think.
James Sutherland-Smith , Belgrade and other places
It means people, who are able to accept me when I'm angry, happy, sad. My mood doesn't matter. I'm always welcomed.

Home is a collection of memories from around the world. Little, or not so little, examples of the variety we have seen, loved and packaged away. For now we have countries to visit, experiences to live and treasures to find. Eventually our home will find us.

Home is not a place. It is people you love...

Home H- Heart O- Opinion M- Memory E- Emotions
Heart- Home is the heart. When I am away I'm never alone because my home is always in my heart.
Opinion- Home is the opinion. When I want to know true opinion about anything I always ask my family.
Memory- Home is the memory. When I am reminded of my childhood it helps to feel better. Breakfast prepared by my granny on the table, big trees in the garden of my grandfather, smell of hands of my mammy, bicycle- my daddy's gift and my little sister who helped me to be a good elder sister.
Emotions- Home is the emotions. Smile, tears, joy, sorrow, love, care- is the part of my home which is always in my heart.
Dilara Ismayilova , Azerbaijan
Home is the first thing that I miss when I am away and then the first thing I get bored at when I am back or have to stay in for a long time. Home is where my mother waits every evening for everybody to come back before locking the door and I know, it doesn't metter how late I might be, I will never be locked out because home is about having this certaincy.

Home is the place where your family is always waiting and loving you
Ekaterina , Uzbekistan
There's no place like home. People say it, but what do they mean by it? A place, a concept, or people living with you? "It's time to go home, honey! Your Mummy and your dinner are waiting for you!" This is your first meeting with the realia and the reality. "Home, home..." Always "home", especially when you've just started a new interesting game!!! How irritating it was and how charming it sounds now! When nobody prepares meals for you and the game is getting more and more challenging and tricky.
Natasha Shulgina , Moscow, Russia
It's a good question. I am going to concentrate more on the word then on its physical place. This word sound nice in any language, sound cute, tender, soft and comfortable. In Russian it souns "dom" with a long O, and probably this makes the word something cosy, nice, and fabulous. You just unconciously feel it. So, if I like any word, or even several then it's this one.
Elena Edisherashvily , Samara
Home... I'm sitting on the sofa with a book. You are in the kitchen smoking... We don't talk, but we know we are AT HOME together. When you say: -"Tea?" -"Yes, please" Kettle is singing its song, cups are put on the table... You say: -"There is no sugar..." -"Go and buy some" -"No, go yourself..." -"No, I don't like sugar" So, no sugar. We stay AT HOME, together with no sugar...

Home is the place where my parents live , where I can find understanding and support even if I am not asking ( I mean my parents can really guess something is wrong , it's no use pretending). Home is the place where I am always welcome and there is overwelming love and happiness.
Valentina Lapina , Ekaterinburg, Russia
My home would be your home if I had one.
Christina Smart , Budapest
Home is empty and lonely now. Children grown and flown the nest, loved ones departed, the phone rarely rings albeit to tell me of another relative leaving their mortal coil or to sell me something I don't need or want as I have everything, my health, my sanity and my beautiful memories. Tomorrow is another day and spring is officially here, the birds have stared nesting in my garden, the fox will have another litter under the garden shed, the flowers have begun bloom and brighten the garden-up and I may fall in love again! The bricks and mortar that surround me keep me warm for the time being and it's my home.
